Smelling Good: A Few Scent Tips

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

By Topher ZiCornell The Good I was with a group of friends waiting to be seated at a restaurant we thought was pretty nifty. As some nifty places tend to be, this place was a bit loud, so one of the more attractive girls in our bunch leaned in close to me to say something. I have no idea what she was about to say because two words into the sentence she interrupted herself saying, “God! You smell good!” The Bad I was heading for floor 34. The elevator cars that go to that floor skip the first 18 floors. That was a small mercy. The car was packed and almost every button between 18 and 34 was lit up. It was a hot day and there were at least four different overpowering perfumes assailing our nostrils. Everytime the doors opened a refreshing waft of air breathed in, but then the doors closed again trapping us with the scents again. By the time we rounded in on the 30th level there were only a few of us left. The doors opened and one of the other passengers gasped for air as she stepped out of the car. It was only then that I realized to my flushing embarrassment that one of the overpowering, assaultive eau de cologne aromas was from myself. How do you wear perfumes or colognes so that things like The Good happen and things like The Bad don’t? 1) It starts with finding the right perfume for you. Every perfume is different, and every person is different. Not only is it important to find a scent that you like, but also to find one that likes you. A perfume should compliment, rather than mask, your natural aromas. 2) Timing is important. The scents that you notice right when you first put the perfume on are called the Top Notes. These are usually very bright and noticeable, and they fade quickly, within the first hour or so. The strong, chokingly floral scents that bring an elevator full of people to holding their breath are usually caused by the top notes of a perfume. To avoid being a choker try to apply your perfume at least an hour ahead of time. 3) Apply the scent to well-chosen spots. Perfumes are heat activated. The scents that percolate out over time as your body continuously warms the perfume, known as the Heart Notes, are the ones you want people to pleasantly associate with you. They should be a gentle presence which arrives and departs with you. Putting the perfume under several layers of clothing may not allow it to percolate as you were hoping. Try placing small amounts at the openings of your clothing, like just under your collar, your arm sleeves, even your ankles if they are exposed. 4) You could think of the Base Notes as the aftertaste. They are the scents you want to linger in the space you’ve been and tease the subconscious’ of those you have met. We like to look good, and we like to smell good. A well-worn perfume can be like a fine wine; and a badly worn one like that cheap wine Uncle Walter always drinks. Finding Your Unique Selling Point

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

By Martin Lukac When starting up a business you will hear over and over that you need to be unique in your marketing. You want to get the consumer’s attention. There is a lot of competition out there, so being unique is essential. What you must do is distinguish your product or services from the competition. Some businesses offer products or services that are already unique. Others must find the unique niche in their business. By being unique in your marketing message, you will attract the notice of more soon-to-be customers. Is it worth the effort? Definitely. Being different in your marketing can make your business: memorable, competitive, and special to your target audience. But how different should you be? Can you go too far? Sometimes you can be so unique that you turn off consumers. Or perhaps you miss the target with your marketing. Not all businesses have large ads in the Yellow Pages for the simple reason that they don’t get results. So don’t be different and take out an ad in the Yellow Pages. Remember, the basics of marketing are tried and true. They provide results. You can be unique in your message and some of your methods. But don’t get so far out of the box that you completely miss your target audience. Some businesses are so unique that they have a problem providing a marketing message. For example, you might offer a totally new service for the business to business community. However, it is unlike anything else out there — and that seems to be all you keep saying. This makes it a little too much of an unknown. You have to be able to provide some comparisons in order for customers to understand what your product or service offers to them. If they can’t compare it to something, they probably won’t see how they need it. When looking at unique marketing you need to keep in mind your target audience. You have to have a target audience. You can’t argue that your product is so unique that it targets no set audience. There has to be someone that you want to market to. You have to be able to identify the consumers you want to reach out to. You have to know how to communicate what need your service or product fulfills. Look for a unique way to communicate the benefits you offer, but make sure that it relates to your services or product. It is okay to be creative, but don’t spend too much money on marketing that won’t tie your product to the message. Use the existing marketing strategies that work well and use them. This will save you a lot of money and time. You want to be distinctive in the marketplace. However, if you are too far out in left field, no one will really remember you. Be unique in your message, be solid in your marketing plan. The Ever Changing World of Careers

Monday, October 29th, 2007

By Terje Ellingsen You can choose Your career Are you one of the many people who don’t feel pleasant with your current job or career? Have you worked in one career for many years, and found yourself burned out? Or do you feel that your life is not what it could be, because you can’t take out your full potential in the job or career you are in? Changing careers and jobs is indeed an issue that concerns many of us. What’s really amazing me is the fact that many people - myself included - are continuing in the same job or career year after year, even though they are sick and tired of it and really want to quit their jobs and start up with something else. I think this grounding is a part of human nature: it’s a comfort zone that is difficult to climb out of, using arguments as “I know the job I have, but not which job I’ll get.” Before I finally took the step that I had considered for years; quit my job and starting a new career I did like most people; I waited so long that I was almost forced out of my job because of sickness and tiredness. But when I first took this step and started in my new career, more and more I realized that this job change should have been done much earlier. Like many other people who are establishing work at home careers or jobs, I had to admit that this was my dream job. Even if you’re forced to start a new career, you decide which I was one of the lucky guys who chosed to change my career. But not every worker is that lucky. In this ever changing world, and especially after the internet came - the job market has changed tremendously. Now the rule is change and stability is an exception. Many work tasks are obsolete because automation has taken over, which means that many jobs are not needed any longer. This forces many working people to find another job or career. Sometimes the alternative to a career change is welfare, and who wants that? The turmoil of the ‘new economy’ job market creates new jobs every day, while old jobs are falling into abandonment. What you can choose however, is which career or job you want to change to. Values impact career choices Another trend in the job market is that the need of self realization and prioritizing soft values seem to be knocking out the importance of money as a measurement of life quality. This can be preferences of staying home more with partner and kids, more leisure time, etc. As people grow older they often choose to focus on other things in life than job and career, such as time to spend at home with spouse, kids and more leisure time. Follow your career dreams Everybody should be able to pick the career or job they want, thus taking out their fullest potential for the benefit of themselves and others. Everybody should follow their inner voice and do what they always have wanted to do in their lives. To jump info a new job or career is a challenge - at least in the beginning. You have to go through a period of uncertainty or insecurity. You have no guarantees for anything in life, however. And the fact is that you have no guarantee to keep a job or career either, so why not look upon this fantastic opportunity to start a new career as an exciting and joyful challenge? There are many sources ready to support you during the career transmission, like career coaches, outplacement services and career counselling in general. Get yourself a career or job mentor, this person can be the most valuable person you ever get in touch with. When I quit my job as a business consultant and started to work at home as an internet publisher, it didn’t take me much time to realize that I had made the best choice ever. I think the separation of job and private life is artificial; there is only one life. Work is a part of it, and joy is a part of it too. For me, my work is a joy and joy is what life should be for all of us. Terje Brooks Ellingsen is a writer and internet publisher. He runs the website 1st-Self_Improvement.net. Think Twice Before You Send That E-mail

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By John Bradley Jackson When communicating with a customer, which is the best method or channel of communication: face-to-face, phone, or e-mail? Face-to-face meetings provide an opportunity to create rapport and expand relationships far better than phone or e-mail. Meetings in-person are rich with social cues such as body language, which can help you understand the other partys emotions or reactions. I have seen studies that suggest that as much as three times the information is communicated in-person when compared to e-mail communication. Thus, nothing beats face-to-face meetings when you are creating relationships. If the relationship already exists, then phone and or e-mail can be efficient choices. Phone communication is effective when problems exist with an existing relationship and when emotions may be involved. These emotions can get lost or distorted in an e-mail. Phone is a great way to maintain a relationship (i.e. lets catch up). Yet, in the new millennium, e-mail communication reins supreme. Many selling situations are relegated to e-mail; this includes the first meeting with a prospective customer. E-mail is different in that it can give all parties a chance to think about their responses and to be more exact. Oddly enough, some studies have shown e-mail communication to be more blunt or aggressive; it can be heaven for passive-aggressive types. You know who I mean; these are the folks that cant say it to your face, but will gladly flame you in an e-mail with multiple other parties copied. E-mail is convenient and quick, but it can also be misunderstood and cause significant problems when communicating with customers. Missing from e-mails are all the social cues of a face-to-face meeting including eye contact, body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and smell (remember, we are still mammals). Without these cues it is difficult to discern the true meaning of the e-mail. E-mails are easily misunderstood because of the lack of social cues and because the authors often will only think about themselves (and not about the reader). Also, e-mail can be prone to impulsivity and errors, which is somewhat like face-to-face communication, but without the feedback from the other party. A few tips about e-mail communication: You never know who will read your e-mail; it could be passed on to another recipient. Write the e-mail for everyone to read. Sarcasm is a very poor choice in e-mails; the humor can be misinterpreted or lost. One way to proof your e-mails is to read them aloud to yourself as if you were the recipient. This might help you detect a faux pas before you hit the send key. Have someone else proofread your e-mail; they might save you from making a major error. Never send an e-mail in haste or when you are angry; instead save it and look at in a few hours. You may be surprised how you will need to rewrite it. Be sure to insert friendly words in your e-mail such as thanks, it was a pleasure to meet you, I appreciate you, etc. When in doubt, call the customer instead of sending an e-mail; better yet, go see the see them in-person. Can You Compete?

Friday, October 26th, 2007

By Dave Ricker Are you looking to hire the best talent? Are you thinking about adding a new employee who will significantly impact millions of dollars in YOUR business? Do you want to hire the best? Then you need to show and convince your next hire that you are serious about him joining your team. In March, we received the following candidates response to two high level interviews. The candidate would potentially earn over $100,000 in base salary. As a regional salesperson, the candidate would potentially add millions in new revenue per year to the company. We edited his response. Needless to say, the first company did not convince this very capable salesperson that they wanted him, the second one did. Dave, the PROCESS speaks volumes about the company. Here I was being recruited by a well known company. The position was perfect, the location acceptable but after my first visit, I decided to fire them. They seemed shocked! The no-name hotel was a dump and not billed directly to the company. I had to needlessly change planes, arrange transportation to the interview and the receptionist had no clue who I was or why I would have an appointment with C-level executives (Im sure they would have said something to me. I dont see your name on the list of appointments today.). The senior team was sharp but not coordinated and I left very disappointed in what I felt was a complete waste of my time. (On another interview) The quality of the accommodations is not as important as the thought that went into planning. I was made to feel like a king when the company made my reservations. When the car dropped me off, the general manager was there expecting me. He explained the hotel was very convenient to the plant (the hotel was old and dated but very clean). He arranged for me to have a suite. He offered a catered dinner of my choice (not simply a take-out from Dennys next door) and cocktail service if I chose to relax. It was late and I was tired so I declined but the experience was tremendous. To top it off, they flew me coach on the way in and first class on the trip back home. All things being equal, the candidate will go with the company that shows the most respect. Even as a recruiter, I couldnt have said it better! These are his comments and he is now the top producer (also wage earner) in a highly competitive industry. Marriage - What Is Important?

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By Angie Lewis Have you taken the time to be there for your spouse? Some of you reading this may be thinking, He hasnt taken the time to be a husband, why should I put in any special effort? She has rejected me for two weeks. Im not going to do anything extra around the house for her. But we do have to put in special effort if we truly want to be there for each other. Marriage is certainly not about keeping score. It is about giving of ourselves freely whenever we have the chance to do so. A wife and mother who works out of the home all day, and then comes home, cooks, cleans, and tends to the children, isnt going to have much time for her husband, thats for sure. So what can she do? A good starting point is for couples to decide together where their priorities lie. What is important? How is your marriage doing in the pleasure department? Do you have the time and energy to make love to each other, or is it too late and youre tired? What about the intimacy department? Do you and your spouse ever have the time to talk about your feelings and have deep conversations with one another? Do you ever take walks together, or go on a date to the movies or to dinner? Marriage needs these things. What about your health? Are you eating wholesome home-cooked meals, staying energized throughout the day, or are you eating too much fast foods and boxed foods and you feel tired and worn out by mid-day? Eating home-cooked wholesome meals everyday is far better for your health and energy levels than anything else. What about your spiritual health? Do you have time for bible study and, or prayer together? Even if one spouse is not available for devotions or bible study, do you still devote your own time to prayer and spiritual study? Spiritual time together is very important in marriage. Do you have children? What about them? Do the younger children go to an expensive daycare during the day? Do your children spend needless time home alone after school? Are they staying out of trouble, or are they hanging out with their friends doing who knows what? Our children need us. If couples have forsaken the blessings of marriage and family over a wife and mother working just so they can make more money, then maybe it is time to recheck and rethink a few priorities and see what is important. Having a happy and satisfied marriage is important, is it not? Having good health, spiritually and physically is very important as well. And obviously the health and welfare of our children is important too. So what makes money such a high priority in our lives? Is it fear of not having anything? Is it because most Americans are in debt and they have to work even harder to pay off that debt? Are we managing our marriage properly, or just managing the money we earn so we can have more stuff? Couples work, labor and toil all day long and then dont have time for each other. The sad thing is, they also do not have time for God. What is important? Angie Lewis is the author of three marriage books offering marriage tips and wisdom filled answers tackling such issues as addiction, adultery, pornography, emotions, beliefs, feelings, marriage, children, forgiveness, communication, submission and spiritual influence in the home. **Love The Man You Married** is a great teaching tool for couples. One Man Went To Mow…But Just How Do You Mow A Meadow?

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

By Darren Gibson This may not be the burning question on everyone’s lips, but have you ever wondered how the grass in large open meadows and parks gets cut? You may be surprised to hear that there is a “magic formula” for ensuring these areas are cut with maximum speed and efficiency, and I am about to let you in on the secret. Let’s first talk about why it is important to complete the operation with care, speed and efficiency. The equipment used for mowing is expensive - running into tens of thousands to purchase. The more productive hours you can get out the machinery, the more value you have got out of your purchase. Using the correct formula when mowing serves a number of purposes: 1: The task is finished quickly, so you are getting more productive output from the machine. 2: There is less wear and tear on the machinery if it is used correctly. This keeps repair and servicing costs to a minimum, extends the useful life expectancy of the equipment and keeps downtime (the time when a piece of equipment is not available for productive use while being serviced or repaired) to a minimum. 3: Less fuel is used, which provides both a cost saving and benefit to the environment. So, on to the system used. First of all, we need to ensure there is sufficient area cut around the perimeter to allow a wide turning circle when cutting the main body of grass. This is done by making two or three passes around the entire perimeter so that a strip between eight and ten metres has been cut around the entire area. Once the border strip has been cut,it is then necessary to divide the area into manageable segments. The operator should orient themselves in an imaginary rectangular grid and make the first row of mowing about ten to fifteen metres in from the edge and either the entire length of the field or up to 500 metres if the site is very large. In this case, it is advisable to take passes across the breadth of the field at 500 metre intervals as a guide. This way, you have a strip of grass to your left, and the remainder of the grass to your right. You then continue mowing by taking one pass from the farthest edge of the thinner strip of grass, then a pass from the near edge of the main body of grass, working in a counter clockwise direction. By doing this, you are continually picking off an area of grass without putting undue stresses onto both the steering, clutch and brakes of the tractor unit and onto the mower linkages. Once the thinner strip of grass is all cut, simply pick off another 10 to 15 metre strip and continue the process until all the grass has been cut. Although I have described this in an amenity setting (where the width of cut possible from the mowing unit can be several metres at a time), these methods can also be adopted for large gardens by simply scaling down the segments proportionate to the mowing equipment used. Once you have tried this method, you will never want to go back to the old “ever decreasing circles” formula. Darren was raised on a farm and has over 20 years experience in amenity horticulture and parks management Learn more about Darren and get information about a wide range of issues by visiting his website Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Darren_Gibson http://EzineArticles.com/?One-Man-Went-To-Mow…But-Just-How-Do-You-Mow-A-Meadow?&id=502835 its dinnertime incest geile incest verhalen daddy daughter incest stories teen boy incest

Fashionable Embroider Designs: How to Stitch Them Ourselves?

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

By Robbie Darmona Embroidery has become an important part in todays fashion. Wide variety of embroidery designs exists which can be seen on nearly every wearable cloth in a mans wardrobe: T-shirts, trousers, garments. It also takes on a large number of household materials: bed-cloths, counterpanes, draperies etc. Various kinds of embroidery designs can be found on the Internet. There exists a basic systematisation of this diversity:embroider designs can be qualified into four types. The first one is the most exploited by embroidery lovers: the clothing embroidery design. It includes embroidery designs on fashion clothes, on mans wear, on childrens clothes, on womens dresses or suits. This type of design can be easily purchased either on the Internet , or from the ordinary embroidery shops. What makes them more attractive is that they can be produced by the person using computerized machines or software- first you pick up the digitized design youd like to stitch, download it and the machine stitches it in no time. The second type is the logo embroidery designs, which can be sewn onto T-shirts, sweatshirts and other garments. They can also be ordered on the Internet. The special thing is that most of them are done by professional embroiderers. Great care is taken about their production: their size, shape, texts and outlines are artfully accomplished. The third kind of embroidery designs is the household designs. It is developed for decoration of household materials, such as draperies, carpets, mats, bedspreads, and so on. They also are produced by professionals, most of all because of their great size. And last come the embroidery designs on any other materials and general products: such as embroidery on baseball caps, on shoes, gloves, hats, on different personal belongings- almost everything they can be sewn onto. This type can also be done by stitching software or ordered on the Internet. Whatever embroidery design you pick up, you have to be aware how to make it. Part of the pleasure of having a pretty embroidery on your clothes is to have done it on your own. That is why, many people start using sewing machines, which help them develop their embroidery skills. But there are few things to be considered when using a machine. First of all, choose carefully the colours of the threads which you use, and make sure you have put threads enough to finish the whole embroidery design. After doing this, youd better start stitching your embroidery design NOT on the original cloth, but on a plain fabric to set the size, shape and outlines of your design. And remember to hoop firmly the cloth on which you have started, otherwise you may interrupt the stitching process. Even if clutching strictly on these rules, there are several things which may as well go wrong. The first thing is what to do with the embroidery design when it is ready. People often fuss up when it comes to sewing the design onto the original cloth. Remember: you need to be creative! Any place can be appropriate for a design to put on, so dont stick just with the middle of the cloth. For example, try sewing the design on the back of the blouse, or on the left button corner. Asymmetry can be highly provocative and fashionable. Many novices are confused when trying to make a logo. Bear in mind that logos demand smaller fonts of texts (Arial and Verdana would be most suitable as fonts ), and the thinnest possible outline. Otherwise, you risk ruining the effect of the discreet showing up of your logo. Black bobbin thread or the same color thread should be used as the top when making texts on dark fabric. Smaller objects dont need to be outlined as it would make no difference in the final results. One of the priorities of the smaller designs is that they are easy to make: if you are a new-beginner, youd better start with making small designs, the width of 3-4.5 inches. Not having to worry about greater objects will put you at ease with the machine itself and would help you get accustomed to the work. Dont panic when something gets wrong: finish the stitches and try to edit it afterwards. Another big point to be made here is the support of the sewing machine: you have to change the needle frequently, also when finishing a certain design. The Quick Payday Loan - Taking A Look At The Loan Agreement

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder A payday loan will require you to sign a loan agreement, just like with any type of loan. Before you sign though, you should take the time to read through all the fine print. Not only will you learn your rights, but there is also valuable information to be found in the forms. Lenders Contact Information In your loan agreement you should clearly see the lenders contact information. This should include company name, address, and phone number. They may also include a fax number or email address. Through this information you should be able to contact the lender with any questions. List Of Fees And Interest Rates Your loan agreement will also include a list of fees and interest rates. You will find the APR, which should have been disclosed before signing the agreement. You will also find exact dollar amounts that you are to pay for the loan. Fees for late charges or bounced checks are also included. These fees can really add up, and it is better to work with your lender to renew your payday loan terms than pay large late fees. Payment Obligations You are expected to repay your cash advance loan, usually on your next payday. However, you may also choose to take several weeks to pay back the amount. Whatever the terms, they should be clearly listed out in your loan agreement. You should also see the statement: You cannot be prosecuted in criminal court for collection of this loan. What this statement means is that while you cant be arrested for not paying your loan, you can end up in civil court. Through the court, fees for the loan and court costs can be collected by garnishing your wages, placing a lien on your assets, or other means as determined by the court. Lack Of Information If your loan agreement does not contain the above basic information or you disagree with the terms, then you should not sign for the loan. You may be dealing with a shady company. A better idea is to look for another payday loan company, which you can feel comfortable with.
